Experience

This is my 23rd year teaching elementary school children!  I taught kindergarten 7 years at Beach Elementary School in Panama City Beach, Florida.  And I spent 14 years teaching kindergarten at Oxford Elementary School. In 2014, I was given the opportunity to take a new role as the new

Oxford City Schools Elementary Art Teacher.

I am so excited about my new opportunity and adventure!  I look forward to each day when I can help these little ones expand their creative side!  My classroom motto is "There Are No Mistakes In ART".  I want to encourage the children that it is okay to take risks and if there happens to be a "mistake", we will turn it into an opportunity to do something more amazing!!

Bio

My name is Teresa D. Hatton-Edwards. I am the new ART teach for Oxford City Schools Elementary Children in Oxford, ALABAMA. This is my 23rd  year teaching and I can honestly say that I love teaching young children.   I taught kindergarten for 7 years at Beach Elementary School in Panama City Beach, Florida. And I spent 14 years teaching kindergarten at Oxford Elementary School. I love teaching at Oxford Elementary School and being back at the school that I once was a young child.  Things that I LOVE to do are: gardening, shopping at thrift stores to find those fabulous items to "repurpose", collecting antiques, decorating, boating at Lake Wedowee and the beach, and spending time with family.  My most treasured is the time spent with Hailye and my husband, Cary!

I am married to a wonderful man named Cary.  We were married in June of 2006.   He is the owner and operator of Edwards' Nursery and Greenhouses.  His business is located in Selma, Alabama.  He has such a natural touch with growing beautiful flowers such as a wide variety of spring flowers, fall garden mums, and beautiful Christmas poinsettias.  And as you can imagine, this keeps him very busy throughout the year.

I have a precious daughter named Christian Hailye Hatton. She is 18 years old, graduated from Oxford High School and now attends JSU.  Hailye loves being active in school and outside of school.  She enjoys dance, texting, and spending time with her friends and works part time at Mt. Cheaha Harley Davidson.  As you can imagine, we have a very busy schedule!  We also have two cats named Jack Greyson and Lylia Jaymes.  We also have three dogs.  Their names are Charlee Jaye Hudson Lee, and Eden Claire.  We call them our "pound puppies" because they don't have a fancy breed, but they are definately "fancy" and precious in our eyes.  We conside them a tremendous blessing and addition to our family!
