Parent Events at OES 2016-2017

Student-Parent Handbook

Provided to parents on the   first day of school. The handbook   outlines Academics, Attendance, Behavioral Guidelines, Dress Code,   Home/School Communication, and Nutritional Information for parents. Handbook is available for download on our   school website.

Parent Compact

Compact outlines how   parents, the entire school staff and the students will share the responsibility   for improved academic achievement and the means which the school and parents   will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the   state’s high standards. Section 1118   of Public Law 102-382 (Classroom compacts are available in the classrooms.

Parent Involvement Plan

Plan outlines the   responsibilities of the school based on the No Child Left Behind Law. (i.e.   Annual Meeting Parent Conferences, Parent Surveys, School-Parent Compact,   Local Assessments, etc.)

Orientation

This event is held to help parents   and students to get acclimated with new teachers at school. It is also a way to prepare parents and   students for the beginning of school so there will be a smooth transition

September 2nd and   6th

7:45 a.m and 5:30 p.m.

 

Please join us for this meeting   with the OES administrators, Title 1 teachers and the guidance   counselor. During this event, you will   see the academic performance of OES students at each grade level. There will be explanations of how and why   students are assessed. This is a great   time to get questions about assessment answered. After the presentation, you will be able to   pick up your child’s assessment reports in reading and math. The Title 1 teachers will provide parents   with ideas and materials on how to help with reading and math at home.

September 12-16

Grandparents’ Week

Grandparents will be invited   to eat lunch at school. A reservation   will be sent home prior to this special event. This will help the cafeteria to prepare for   our important visitors.

Your child will have the   opportunity to participate in this spectacular event that raises money for   the Oxford City School system. The   Oxford City Foundation will organize DTTD.   It will be held at the Oxford Performing Arts Center. Students will learn popular dances in PE   for a particular decade. This exciting   event showcases the students and teachers showing their moves. Fun for All!!

This end of the year celebration spotlights   making healthy choices and physical fitness.   Parents are invited to volunteer to make this a great day for   all. Forms to sign up will be sent   home prior to the event
